Research that you carry out in these sessions

  • Skills that you have tried, 

I used certain skills such as using a heat press, sewing, ironing fabric, using embroidery rings and using sewing machines.

  • Processes
a) To begin the session, I used all of the six colours to make swatches, meaning that I could see how they would turn out on paper.

b) We then had to design the word 'crew' in an artistic style. Mine had a sort of retro vibe to it.

c) I began to create a draft in pencil so that it would be easier when it came to using the paint.

d) When using the paint, I would try to experiment with colour combinations, such as red-blue and yellow-green.

e) Before my artwork was taken to the heat press, I had to dry it with a hair dryer.

f) The work was then taken to the heat press to be copied onto fabric.

g) Later on we learnt new techniques in order to make our artworks look better, such as ironing and using the sewing machines.


 h) Later on, we were taught the hand sewing technique in order to add final decoration for our designs.
  • Methods

a) When making the swatches, I created two based on each colour to make for a better image for my post.

b) As mentioned above, I used a retro design for my artwork. This meant that the letters looked very geometrical.

c) I would often use two colours for each letter and merge them together. On the first letter (C) it went slightly wrong.

 d) I would use the iron for about 10 seconds when sticking the fabric to my image to make sure that it wouldn't come off.

The Filming Process

Week 1 We finalised our pre-production paperwork before we got started on our filming. For those who had already completed their assigned paperwork, it was a case of sorting out the production's props. On the Wednesday and Thursday of that week, we managed to film most of, if not pretty much all of the footage for my segment and some of Kian's as well. Week 2 During this week, the filming experienced some heavy setbacks due to the extreme weather, which consisted of freezing temperatures and extensive snowfall. We were only able to come in on Monday and run through the first few lines of the first scene. On Tuesday, not everyone managed to come in, and on Wednesday and Thursday, the college was closed full stop, so that got rid of any chances of filming. Week 3 This week consisted mostly of filming Cameron's scenes and the scenes using the mini-figures. List under the following   Processes carried out in the sessions: Processes a) To begin the sessions, We were assigned in to four different groups so that we could come up with a 1 minute advert for the BIC four colour pen. b) My groups idea was very different to that of the other groups. This was because our had a 'hippies on the moon' theme to it which I thought was a bit silly at first, but was suprised at how it worked later on. c) All four groups had to listen to the ideas developed by others so that we could vote on which one the advert would be based on. d) To my surprise, my group's idea actually ended up winning the vote, and it took a lot of thought into how to make it into a production. e) A makeshift spacecraft was set up for the 'landing on the moon' scene. It was primarily made up of a few chairs and a table
