Research Report into Social Networking Sites, Comparing & Evaluating


From the research I have gathered, I can conclude that social media is used by various different audiences to share information with one another, and also to promote various films through websites. For example, The Greatest Showman website provides a link that allows the user to purchase merchandise relating to the film etc.

 Institutions will at times attempt to compete with one another through the content that they post on social media or through the use of different websites with the hope of attracting a wider range of users for promotion. This of course gets them noticed more by the general public and heavily impacting them in a good way. These tactics can be seen on various websites such as the Jumanji website or the Early Man website, where you can find info on the characters and play games.


from my survey, I can tell that people who use social media will often use multiple sites as opposed to just one. This is often the case with most people as they tend to search for a larger variety of content. For example, those who use Snapchat may use the site to look at others Snapchat stories, and those who use YouTube would use it for online video entertainment.

The Filming Process

Week 1 We finalised our pre-production paperwork before we got started on our filming. For those who had already completed their assigned paperwork, it was a case of sorting out the production's props. On the Wednesday and Thursday of that week, we managed to film most of, if not pretty much all of the footage for my segment and some of Kian's as well. Week 2 During this week, the filming experienced some heavy setbacks due to the extreme weather, which consisted of freezing temperatures and extensive snowfall. We were only able to come in on Monday and run through the first few lines of the first scene. On Tuesday, not everyone managed to come in, and on Wednesday and Thursday, the college was closed full stop, so that got rid of any chances of filming. 1. Document what you did in the session on Tuesday and Wednesday (Pictures, Diary entries, Printouts ETC) 2. List under the following   Processes carried out in the sessions: Processes a) To begin the sessions, We were assigned in to four different groups so that we could come up with a 1 minute advert for the BIC four colour pen. b) My groups idea was very different to that of the other groups. This was because our had a 'hippies on the moon' theme to it which I thought was a bit silly at first, but was suprised at how it worked later on. c) All four groups had to listen to the ideas developed by others so that we could vote on which one the advert would be based on. d) To my surprise, my group's idea actually ended up winning the vote, and it took a lot of thought into how to make it into a production. e) A makeshift spacecraft was set up for the 'landing on the moon' scene.
